I’m not a girly girl. I’ve never been a girly girl. I can’t ever imagine being a girly girl. I’m not even sure I can admit to being one of those girls who can transition well between tomboy and girly girl. I’m just not sure it’s in me.
Which means that I’m completely sunk if Emma decides she’s going to be a girly girl.
She’s not there yet. She is perfectly comfortable in her jeans and sweatpants. While she enjoys wearing skirts and dresses on occasion, they are ususally mismatched pieces and she just doesn’t care.
But if she ever starts asking me how to style her hair or put on makeup, I’m sunk. I have no idea what to tell her.
Which is why it makes me unbelievably nervous when she coos over things like this…
I can’t even take her into the shoe section anymore. She seriously wants every single pair. And the especially sparkly ones she wants to wear with tights.
I’m not gonna lie. It scares me.
So for now, I’ll just hope and pray that she never outgrows her grass stained pants and her favorite shirt stained with paint. Because I don’t have it in me to raise a girly girl.

Q is an almost teenager…..it just gets scarier!! We can cry together and hold each other!!
much love and BIG hugs!!!
That’s why it is so cool you have Tina living across the street. She knows make-up and shoes and being girly.
That’s what I said 5 years ago. And now I have girly girls. And buy dresses for them. I can do french braids, but that’s the extent of my hair-do-ing girly style.
Thea, you can ship her down to Dallas and I will do girly things with her! my boys aren’t too into girly things (thank God!!) and it would warm my heart to be all girly with someone! lol
You can ship her to me and I’ll let you borrow K for awhile. I’m bummed mine isn’t more of a girly-girl, because I’m all about the hair and make-up and cute shoes.
As for the hair, I’m sure there is an app for that.
*note to self, look for hair-styling app
You can do this. And if the shopping is too much call me. I’m close enough that I can take her and she can do girly girl stuff with me and K2. Nail polish, sparkly shoes and pedicures. Yay!
That’s what I used to think. Now, my oldest is 10 and bugging me about wearing make-up. I just let her buy some to play with, but she is only allowed to wear the lip gloss on a regular basis. The second one much more girly and I had fun letting her wear the sparkley shoes and a lot of pink, it wasn’t so hard after the first ones was a jeans and t-shirt kid. Just ease your way in. My aunt taught me how to do my make-up when I was 12. I like that dress, it doesn’t even have flowers, glitter or lace!
