This fitness thing is filled with highs and lows, isn’t it?
Well. I’ve hit a low. I’m officially on the injured list. My best guess super-official-’cause-I-did-a-lot-of-research-on-the-Internets diagnosis: I have pes anserine bursitis.
Also known as Goosefoot Bursitis. I picked it as my injury mostly for the name.
But seriously. I’ve been having pain on the on the inside of my knee, more towards the bottom of my knee. It didn’t actually hurt to run, but it hurt after running. It was usually worse in the morning.
Then it started bothering me all day. But still not during running.
Then on Wednesday, I noticed that I was starting to have some range of motion issues. Nothing horrible, it just took some effort to straighten my leg 100%. I was nervous about Wednesday’s run, but it ended up going o.k. While there was pain during my walking warm up, there was still no pain during the actual run.
But when I went out for my run yesterday, ooooooh boy. I was officially limping for the first .1 mile. I urged myself on, knowing that it would loosen up the more I went. While it did get better (about 1.25 mile), I was still concious of the fact that my knee wasn’t right. It just felt off.
So, I cut my run short, and pouted walked the rest of the way home.
I finally, FINALLY hit my running stride and now I’m injured? UGH!! I’m so disappointed! Not in myself, just in the situation.
I’ve had bursitis before (not this kind, but I had Trochanteric Bursitis a few years ago) (maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t the term “bursitis” conjure up images of 80 year old people) so I know what my course of action is.
Rest (no running). Ice (10 minute ice massage, 3 or 4 times a day). Stretch (tight hamstring muscles is the culprit). The stretch I have to do? Hurts like hell and looks really funny.
So there you have it. Fitness…well, running…has come to a halt up in here.
Good times, good times.

DAMMIT!!!! Well we’re all about the injuries around here and if you rest it right, you’ll be up and running in no time. pun intended.
Ouch!! NOT fun!! Hope you feel better soon!! Take care of it and ease back into running again and you will do great!
oh no!! Please rest!! I know it sucks, I know how hard you fought to find your running groove.
HUGS & MUCH LOVE!
OUCH and BOO
Definitely take care of it. RICE and all that jazz. If it isn’t better in a week or so, get thee to a real doctor – not the interweb kind.
