Sometimes I forget how old he is.
He seems stuck in this place between wanting to grow up and still enjoying kid things.
He still answers the preschool shows when they ask “What letter makes the ‘mmmm’ sound?”. But today, he beat me at chess.
He sits at the table and sings silly songs about pooping and farting when he’s taking a break from reading Harry Potter.
He plays Zhu Zhu Pets with Emma while he talks about traveling to Japan to compete on Ninja Warrior.
Pretty soon…sooner than I’m willing to admit…he’ll lose that kid stuff and he’ll be all serious and won’t want to have anything to do with us.
Until then, I’ll hold to every ounce of kid-ness I can get.
{sigh} I’m approaching this stage with mine and it makes me sad…
