Now that both the kids are in school, the idea of going back to work has been inching closer to the front of my mind. It’s been lodged quite snugly in the BACK of my mind since I quit the Paying Job World nearly 8 years ago.
The problem? I’m too busy to work. And I have too many parameters on what would be considered the “perfect job”.
I already have a hard time getting basic daily stuff done now that I wonder how on Earth I’ll be able to fit stuff in when I have less time.
It seems like I’m constantly running errands, working out, doing stuff around the house, volunteering at school. And I’m cool with that. I really feel like all of those things are my REAL job, even though I do it sans compensation.
But there’s still that idea…I want us to travel. A lot. Like I said before, my Bucket List is not going to pay for itself. And having a job would help with that.
So, do I get a job just to fund my wanderlust? Or do I lower my travel expectations?
Maybe I’ll just subscribe to a travel magazine and live vicariously through the photographs. No job required to afford that!
Adding a paying job to the mix would definitely suck time away from us. I’d advise against it. :p
On the other hand, can you find something part-time that would still give you some extra $$ and time to do the other things? I’ve found if I’m extremely busy I’m actually more productive because I don’t have the luxury of flitting the time away.
I hear ya. If you had a job, would you be able to get the time off to travel? I have all kinds of jobs lately, but I don’t get paid for them – they wouldn’t be as much fun that way.
I know! Win the lottery!
