I swore I would never do it. Dave backed me up 100%.
But, after much discussion and laying down of ground rules, we took the leap.
Jake and Emma are both doing TWO SPORTS for the next 11 weeks.
Amazingly enough, none of their practices overlap. That’s a small miracle in and of itself.
That doesn’t mean the schedule is easy. We now have something 5 days a week. Soccer on Monday, gymnastics on Tuesday, soccer on Wednesday, soccer on Thursday, soccer on Saturday.
It’s a good thing I like my minivan.
We told Jake that he could try doing two sports, but this was just a trial. If he starts having a problem with homework, or is exhausted or starts having behavior/attitude issues, he needs to choose which sport he’s going to give up.
I also want to protect this family. If Dave and I find that we never see each other or we stop having family meals or anything like that, we’re back down to one sport.
I hope it works out. They both love soccer and gymnastics so much.
Only time will tell.
Wow, your brave! I survived 5 weeks of that sort of schedule which was how long one session of swim lessons lasted. Everyone did great, but we did miss a couple family dinners. It was great that my kids didn’t even notice that they weren’t watching TV or playing the Wii. Good luck – hope it goes well!
That sounds like us last fall. We’ll be busy this spring too – Hannah does two sports (soccer and cheerleading) and Abby is doing one – softball. All of the practices end up on Mondays and Wednesdays though. I don’t know if it’ll be good to have a couple evenings free to rest or if Monday and Wednesday nights are going to kill us first! LOL
I guess I’ll take that as a sign that I don;t have to panic about our schedule after Spring Break…little league for both boys three nights a week, soccer for Aaron and scouts for Noah.
