Jake came home yesterday with his first research project.
That’s right, a RESEARCH project.
He’s 5. And in Kindergarten. And now he has a research project.
Granted, the project is only a week long. And it’s on dogs. And most of it is done in school.
But still, the whole idea that he’s doing a RESEARCH project just boggles my mind. I even had to sign off on it.
All of this is going to culminate in a paragraph. He’ll do research (which means he reads the same two books over and over again), create a brainstorming web, and then right a factual paragraph based on what he’s learned.
Then he has to create a project based on what he’s learned. He then has to present the project to the class…this Friday.
He has decided that he wants to do a painting for his project. He’s not sure what he’s going to paint yet. When I asked him, he said “Something about dogs.”
I have a feeling that he won’t know what to paint even after he’s done his research.
Geez…what’s next week? Calculus???
Yikes for sure. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Let us know how this works out.
Have a terrific day.
We’ve had 2 already this year! One on Egypt and the other on frogs! It’s insane!! We even had to site his resources.
Good luck and if you get one of the above subjects, give me a shout and I’ll point you in the right direction
